The American World Trade Chamber of Commerce, devoted to the nation’s export community, has named Wendy Fichter as the organization’s new president and chief executive officer effective immediately.
Fichter comes to AWTCC with a background in leadership and exports, having held executive positions in previous chambers. Fichter most recently served as vice president and vice president of exports for the Dearborn Area Chamber of Commerce where she was responsible for initiating and growing a portfolio of exporters that included Ford Motor Co., as well as other exporters and chambers throughout the state.
“I am honored to join AWTCC as the first CEO hired from outside the organization.” Fichter said. “I am committed to serving our members and making an essential contribution to the export community by improving international trade certification programs.”
Fichter will lead the chamber at a critical and exciting time. Currently, the organization is implementing a new strategic plan to re-position AWTCC as the leading expert in the U.S. for export documentation.
The new CEO hopes to establish an even higher level of service to the AWTCC members, stronger alliances with corporate partners, and a wider level of engagement with organizations dedicated to the improvement of international trade.
“Wendy is very energetic, creative and driven,” said Brian Smith, chairman of the AWTCC Board of Directors. “She brings experience with both small and large exporters that will play an important part in her new role. She is the ideal person to lead us in the next phase of our organization. The AWTCC Board is looking forward to working with Wendy to grow the chamber throughout the U.S. as well as around the world.”
Active in her community, Fichter serves on numerous nonprofit boards focused on business growth, education, child advocacy, financial literacy, community improvement, cultural enrichment and leadership development.
